At over 7304 yards from the back tees, St. Andrew's Valley can be a real monster, but with at least five tee decks on every hole it's easy to pick a tee that is appropriate for your ability. There are water hazards on 14 holes and just under 100 bunkers so a trip around the course needs to be well planned. It's a good idea to take a step back and assess your options before you hit. Try to stay within your game, play for position off the tee, and most important of all... have fun! Rob Pearce CPGA

Pro Tip:"First Crossing"... Take a good look at this elevated tee shot. Over-confidence may prevent you from clearing the holland river. Carry varies from a mild 155 yards on the white tees to a challenging 225 yards from the green tee markers. After you have cleared the river your approach is a short iron to a large forgiving green. There's nothing like a birdie to start the game off right!

Pro Tip:"Northern Climb"... Our stadium hole! Your drive with a fairway wood places you at the river's edge approximately 250 yards out. Your second shot is uphill and will require a full swing. The third shot is a short iron that demands accuracy. It is imperative that you land on the correct level of this three tiered green or the results will include three putts!

Pro Tip:"The Pipe"... A par here will feel like a birdie! This hole is straight and away, requiring as much length as possible. A good drive leaves you with a long iron or fairway wood approach to a large green protected by sand bunkers and a steep drop off to the rear.

Pro Tip:"River's End"... Don't let the beauty of this hole distract you from the complexity of the shot. Protected by bunkers in front and a river winding behind the entire green, this hole will play approximately 10 yards shorter than measures.

Pro Tip:"Looking Back"... Left is right! Keeping the tee shot left will not only help you to avoid the pond on your second shot, but it will greatly increase the depth of the green. Once again accuracy in your approach will be rewarded with birdies. This green features an unusuale swale in the centre. Once you get past #5, you won't be looking back!

Pro Tip:"Arizona"... This tumbleweed connection comes by its name legitimately. The carry is long and completely over desert waste area. Although you are allowed to ground your club in the waste area, this is not an easy task, as it consists of sandy gravel and rocks! A large undulating green finishes off this menacing par three.

Pro Tip:"Overveiw"... Keep your tee shot left and you'll be ready for a middle to short iron approach to the elevated green. The green is protected by mounds and a water hazard which gives plenty of opportunity to make up ground. Yes folks, the fun is just beginning.

Pro Tip:"Key Hole"... Your tee shot is uphill to a very difficult landing area. Utilizing the right side of the fairway allows for the best approach angle. Once on the pinnicle you will see the green set in the valley far below. Your approach shot should be aggressive as the target is not as close as it appears.

Pro Tip:"Twisted"... For this par five, accuracy is a must! The river meanders into play three times and to add to this challenge, a pond guards the right side of the tee shot. While some players will try to reach the green in two, a gamble will most often prove folly---play safe!

Pro Tip:"Channel"... Yes, this par 5 is as long as it appears! Be aggressive with your tee shot as the second shot will better suit your more conservative nature. Accuracy between a pond on the right and a river on the left will leave you with a short iron to complete this lengthly hole.

Pro Tip:"Carry On"... This is a perfect opportunity for a birdie. From an elevated tee you will require one to two clubs less as the target plays shorter than it measures. Not completely hazard free, a creek protects the green in front and the Holland River on the left. For a greater challenge step back to the green tees!

Pro Tip:"Poltergeist"... Don't get too spooked by this hole! Lined on both sides with mature pines, this one has a creek crossing the fairway approximately 260 yards form the tees. A fairway wood is preferred for both distance and accuracy. Played to an elevated green your second shot will require a low to medium iron.

Pro Tip:"Snake Bite"... It's just one hazard after another. There is a pond off the tee, river along the right side of the second shot and desert waste fills in the right side to the green. A well placed shot to the left allows for a short iron to an elevated gree.

Pro Tip:"At Last"... This enjoyable par three has tees neatly tucked against the water to the right and in front of the tee. While not a long par three, you'll want to take an extra club as you will be hitting directly into the prevailing wind. Wise club selection will keep you out of the bunkers in front of the green and creek at the rear. Do well on this hole, and you'll have the confidence for what awaits you on the last one.

Pro Tip:"Too Much"... Try to maintain your composure. This hole will rank as one of the most exciting and difficult finishing holes anywhere. A long tee shot is paramount avoiding the 220 yd. pond on the right side. Required next is "the shot of the day". A fairway wood to an 11,000 square foot green that is well guarded by water and extensive bunkering on the right front of the green. GOOD LUCK!!
