“There are no two golf swings exactly alike. If so, then why try to make someone swing like someone else. Rather than try to adapt you into someone else I want to get to know you – how you feel about your game and what you’d like to do with it. I will then work with you as an individual. Golf lessons are tailored to you."

The intent of The Teaching Centre is to help golfers improve their game in order to increase their level of enjoyment. The focus of all instructional programs is not intended to explain everything about the game of golf, or to convert golfers to any particular theory or method of play. The focus of teaching will be on achieving an understanding of technique and the mechanics of the golf swing. People will learn more quickly and easily if they understand both the how and why of what they are learning.

Ultimately, scoring and self-improvement are what the game is all about. The essence of the game is to challenge each golfer’s ability to post a score that they can be proud of.

From low-handicap golfers to newcomers to the game and everyone in between, The Teaching Centre offers programs segmented to match each player’s skill level, speaking to the needs of elite players looking to refine their games, advanced players looking to enhance their skills, core players looking to develop consistency, and new players simply looking to discover their game.

Mike's History

After being introduced to the game by his father at a young age, Michael developed a love for the game which is very evident today. He honed his skills both locally, nationally and internationally as a junior golfer. After graduating from Brevard College and a brief time playing the Florida mini tours, Michael joined the Professional Staff at St. Andrew’s East Golf Club for seven years. He then moved on to the Associate Professional’s role at Maple Downs Golf Club for five years. Most recently, he was Head Golf Professional at Cedar Brae Golf Club for the past six years.

Michael credits the late George Knudson and Ben Kern as two people who shaped his initial philosophy on teaching. Over the years this philosophy has undergone adjustments and improvements as new techniques and influences are developed. Ultimately the goal has remained consistent, to provide and assist each individual with an understanding on how to improve and enjoy their game.
